The building of the Union of Polish Architects
The only preserved timberframe building of old Olsztyn. We do not know its initial function, it was used for non- residential purposes. Presently it houses the Union of Polish Architects.
History
The granary building dates back to the turn of the 19th century. It is the only preserved timberframe monument, a type of construction which prevailed in Olsztyn till the 19th century. The building is located on the outskirts of the Old Town. It makes use of a 14th - century defensive wall. It was serving non- residential purposes either as a granary or as a carriage house. The building was renovated between 1980 and 1990, owing to the efforts of the Union of Polish Architects, who have their seat there, and the Voivodship Conservation Officer. On the ground floor there are gastronomic premises.
